From Friday, October 4 to Thursday, October 10, 2019, 15 students and 3 faculty members were accepted from Taiwan National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, our university’s co-university. Specially Appointed Associate Professor Toyiko Morita from Global Center was in charge of the program implementation, and Professor Yu Hui-Ling From Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology was in led the group. Kagoshima University and National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST) in Taiwan have had an academic exchange partnership since 2008, and from 2017, students from Kagoshima University have been visiting NKUST for two years as part of the P-SEG overseas study program.
Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology is located in Kaohsiung City in southern Taiwan and is currently involved in revitalization of the area in the Byoto region on the outskirts of Kaohsiung City. The purpose of this training program was to show the activities and initiatives in the Kagoshima region, and to learn about the Center for Community Development, which is a collaborative project between Kagoshima University and the local community.

Campus tours, lectures and presentations were also attended by students from Kagoshima University who participated in the Taiwan training program in 2018 and September 2019, as well as students who participated in overseas training programs other than Taiwan in the second half of 2018. The lecture was titled “The Forefront of Global Logistics – A Case Study of Chinese Logistics”, and was held in Japanese and Chinese. This was followed by a discussion on the presentation prepared in advance in cooperation between the Japanese and Taiwanese students, which made for a fulfilling training program.
